What does being honored as a Salesforce MVP mean to me?

March 22, 2021

RefugeeForce Co-Founder, Gaspar Rodriguez, was recently honored as a member of the Salesforce 2021 MVP Class

As a 7X Certified Senior Salesforce Consultant with 10 years of Salesforce experience in various roles, Gaspar has worked with social impact organisations, large NGOs, and commercial companies around the world to design and implement solutions on the Salesforce platform. During this time, he has worked to deliver over 30 Salesforce implementations in 20 countries.

Two years ago he co-founded RefugeeForce to help solve a difficult social problem of under-employed and un-employed refugees in Europe with the professional development and career growth of Salesforce. After being awarded the 2020 Golden Hoodie during DreamTX, we have received so much love and support from the Salesforce community.

Here’s the thing: Salesforce has a big talent problem

The war for top Salesforce talent is toxic and undermines the growth of the ecosystem. The constant hunting and poaching of multi-certified seniors and architects is a zero-sum game. We see a brighter, healthier Salesforce talent ecosystem where training opportunities for new entrants are more accessible and employers are finding ways to attract new talent. This is why we started RefugeeForce. As the only community program in the world training refugees on the Salesforce platform, our aim to boost their careers in technology and bridge the digital-skills and talent gap in Europe.

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in 10 years.” — Bill Gates

You heard it here first

Our BHAG is to reach and train 10.000 refugees by 2025. This can only be achieved through harnessing the power of Generosity, Leadership, and Expertise of motivated Salesforce professionals and employees in local communities around the world.

Being recognized as a champion for inclusivity, diversity, and knowledge for all, receiving this award has motivated me even further to pursue my professional goals. As a Salesforce MVP, Gaspar is evermore committed to upholding the program values and strengthening the Salesforce ecosystem.

There is still so much work to do — looking forward to being part of the 2021 Class!

Salesforce is a collaborative and supportive community, with everyone willing to help others get a step up in the ecosystem. This is the spirit that Gaspar Rodriguez , Nick Broekema , and Marielle Schweickart wanted to capture when they founded Blue Road Academy (formerly RefugeeForce ) in 2018 – to help un- and under-employed refugees in the Netherlands secure a Salesforce role. Now they have expanded all over Europe, but they still have the same goal: to change the perceptions of employers, organizations, and the general public in terms of the experience and skills that newcomers can bring as they build new lives in their host countries...
